What is the difference between trip, travel and journey?

Trip

The act of going to somewhere place (regularly for a short time frame) and
returning.

We went on a five-day outing to the Amazon.

You're back from vacation! How was your trip?

I went on business trip to Switzerland and Germany a month ago.

Use the verb "take" and "go on" with trip.

A ticket to get there and back is a ticket for proceeding to return.

A single direction ticket is just for going.

Travel

Going to somewhere else (in general).

        I truly prefer to travel.

        He travels oftentimes for work.

My sister is right now travelling through South America.

Travel (n.) can be utilized to describe the act of going by and large:

Travel in that area of the nation is risky.

World travel gives you another point of view.

Journey

One bit of travel (moving between different places) – typically a long distance.

The journey takes 3 hours via plane or 28 hours by transport.

He made the 200-mile journey by bicycle.

"A journey of 1,000 miles must begin with a single step" – Lao-tze, Tao Te Ching

We can likewise utilize journey in a more "figurative" approach to discuss progress throughout everyday life:

He has overcome a ton of issues on his profound journey.

My uncle is a drunkard, yet he's starting the journey of recuperation.
